"Helping homeless families transition to independence"

Beth El House (BEH) is a program where formerly homeless familes

are able to work toward self-sufficiency and confidence in three crucial

areas of life:  economic stability, emotional well-being, and interpersonal

relationships.  BEH provides transitional housing and a nurturing, but

structured environment, so that residents will be able to make the

transition from homelessness to independent living with dignity.

BEH is a non-profit non-sectarian organization and

provides subsidized housing and high quality individualized services

for up to five previously homeless mothers and their children.

Beth El House was founded in 1992 by members from

Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Alexandria, Virginia.

A volunteer board of directors meets monthly at the Temple.

In addition, BEH, relies heavily on congregational members

to fund programs, as well as support from the Temple staff.
